Admin a Chelsea fan. He insinuates it very faintly
Not exactly sure who you’re referencing here mate but I can confirm to you that I am not a Chelsea fan, just a football fan👍 Thanks for watching mate!
Easy?
Unfortunately for Chelsea I would say so.. 1 shot on target in 90 mins. Lack of creation in chances, no big chances created. Brighton were never really tested. The goal Chelsea got was due to Verbruggen throwing the ball into his own net. Overall a pretty comfortable game for Brighton I think. Thanks for watching mate!
@ZekkoFootball brighton was shit aswell. Except brighton had 2 handballs for their second goal
@@KristianDabeskiexcuses excuses. We lost 7-0 and were at our lowest point in the season. Your team failed to take advantage of that
As a Arsenal fan i rate Newcastle high as a very good fotball team, well deserved victory. Good luck at Wembley
Is the problem from Maresca, recruitment or the players?
It’s difficult to say whether recruitment has been impacted by him so I don’t think we can really say that. On the other hand with the players, they are young so they are always going to be inconsistent, however, currently the tactics used by Maresca are strange, only forcing it down the wings in this game for example, not really a change in approach, these are things you would expect a coach who can see something isn’t working to change, he’s a young coach himself though so I’m sure in time he will learn.👍 Thanks for watching mate!
There's no way you can blame Sancho at all for that first goal, he must cover for Cucurella. The other players weren't doing their jobs.
So I’m not blaming Sancho in its entirety and while I agree with you he must cover, my problem with him there is he’s more or less the only player that can stop that cross and had he sprinted to block it then we might be talking about something completely different. Having said that, you’re absolutely right, other players weren’t doing their jobs which led to the goal and arguably were worse mistakes. Thanks for watching mate!

5-4-1 3CB’S, 2 wing backs
You do realise Dan Burn marked Mbappe out of the game last year? His positioning and timing is very good, he makes more sliding challenges than anyone on the team even though he is so tall.
I love these type of video's. Ive watched Newcastle for over 40 years and it's only through seeing analysis like this that I'm starting to appreciate football nowadays is more like a game of chess. Thank you.
Isnt this what Athletico Madrid play 🤔 Tripps?
Very insightful video, good stuff!
People are willing to call Isak world class now they know they can’t sign him! And Murphy and Gordon have been supplying world class crosses and assists all season to Isak - the first time cross from Gordon for 1-0 (Arsenal again) and the insane back heel against Ipswich from Murphy. Nobody pays any attention because it’s “just NOO-CARSEL”.
We went long and didn’t mess around with playing out the back. Did that in the 1st leg aswell and scored goals in both games with the long ball tactic. Teams need to mix it up a little bit more what’s the point in only playing one way?
Great video and good points. However Forest played a back 3 with wingbacks and not a back 4.
Brilliant analysis, always love hearing your breakdown of our play. I thought Eddie was absolutely top class as was the entire team. Great game, great result. I love that we flow so freely but there is absolute tactical genuis behind it. Eddie thrives in these games and so does his team. We just need to do it consistently.
That Isak rocket that hit the post….was with his left foot😧
He’s a killer.
Brilliant analysis, cheers! 👍
I missed team lineup news so when teams came out in tunnel I was looking for Joelinton and if not him a midfield replacement. I was still figuring out who was in when I saw them line up 541 and I was a but apprehensive there wouldnt be enough up to to allow for supporting Isak. How wrong was I, Howe made such a good call and it won the match as Bruno said in the interview afterwards. It is really interesting that Arteta was asked ' Did you expect Newcastle to have 3 central defenders' ... "yes".. Ok then Arteta why were you so clearly non plussed then when it happened. What a twanger he is.
Eddie Howe is a top manager.
he must use same formation vs Liverpool at final. 3 CB. Botman, Shar & Burn
Brilliant breakdown of positions and moves ,hope people don't click to these things just yet 🤔🤣
Good analysis, aside from other comments about us setting up as a 5-4-1 which we did in fact do
You don't make enough of Gordon's touch in knocking the ball, first time, into Isak's path. The most remarkable thing is that all the touches in this move, Izak, Gordon and Murphy, were instinctive and yet deliberate. It's very possible that we are seeing the development of a squad and coaching team that is very special.
gordon is probably the best at playing those passes. Hes done almost every variation of it, for the first offside goal and also he regurlary plays in murphy over the top with a diagonal like that
I think arsenal players were tired arteta made big mistake to field same 11 players from Sunday he needed fresh
5-5-0 has only been used once, and that was in the 2nd half against Arsenal in 1st leg.
I'm completely biased but I really think Howe is one of the best tacticians around at the moment. He (and his team) think of some really interesting, brave ways to solve problems. Also, I thought the "Second world class touch" was going to be Gordon's first time pass- that deserves more credit.
Me too. I don’t know why Eddie picks up so much flack from some Toon fans for his tactics when he does brilliantly with a thin squad. He has never been out thought tactically by any one and gone head to head with some of the best.
What so much interesting is, isak actually doesn’t try to score it. But he purposely hit the goal post so he can assist in style 😁
The only reason Newcastle could do that is they were at home with a two goal cushion......the situation of the game changes everything.....had martin odigard scored that game could have been so different.
@@randolphgeorge534Yeah, we only won because…we’d…already won…? Hey ho, another “bad day at the office for Arsenal”. Funny that they’ve had three bad days, all at the same office.
As Isak has said himself, the reason he can play so fluidly is due to the quality of the team around him. Fantastic display of supply and finishing 🙂
Murphy and Gordon are the best colleagues for Isak!!
@@anzi614Great shame Southgate didn’t use Gordon in the same way to support Kane for England instead of leaving him isolated and foraging for himself !
@@anzi614 At times, Gordon tends to be a bit more selfish than necessary, instead of passing to Isak he would shoot off target, otherwise he’d have lot more assists
I didn't notice that Rice was on the field until the 80th minut 😂
@@RUclipsr-ku4nk invisible until he should have been sent off! Totally overrated
He spent those 80 mins largely being danced around by Anthony Gordon.
@ i just watched a breakdown of the match. He was man marked by Schar. It was Schar who tackled the ball to Gordon when he scored. Fantastic work and fantastic thought of by our gaffer.
Shar got home & put rice on his pilau
Hmmm I’m not so sure of your “world class pass” count as I do not think there are many that could have pulled off the Anthony Gordon pass around the arsenhole defender and back to Isak putting the ball right in front of him so no breaking stride. So you missed that one. Then the 3,4,3 pattern, I’m not sure you were mapping the same game I was watching. NUFC played basically the same tactics both legs, let Arsenhole have the ball and 70yds of the pitch, then kill them on the break. Both games about the same in ball and territorial possession in Arsenhole’s favour, but NUFC pressed them high when without the ball (cause of second goal) or sucked them up the field then dropped the ball in behind their mid field and pace attacked (first goal).
Excellent video, keep it up!
So brilliant to have you focus on how good Newcastle were, and not how poor Arsenal were. Most media seem to think Newcastle only wins because others are poor 😒
give owa with the victim mentality. who gives a shit what the media say, we're massive and we're only getting better. forget the media.
@@aido6999 It’s not ‘victim mentality’ at all, it’s tedious the way the, largely London or Manchester biased media/commentary only sees the other club to Newcastle or any other team playing one of the “faves”. If you were watching the game on TV the commentary was actually quite nauseating at times, they were only concerned about what Arsenal might do.
@@nathanthomson1931 quite happy for everyone to keep underestimating
As a Arsenal fan i rate Newcastle as a very good team. Well deseved victory and good luck aginst Liverpool.
For Newcastle's second goal I cannot believe that Raya is so robotically programmed to deliver the ball short that he would rather risk giving the ball away than just punt it down the field when that is obviously the safest thing to do...
Arteta should have realised the danger from this and stopped it - we’ve been doing it all season, starting with Joelinton’s goal against Southampton. In practice a keeper playing out from the back has very few options and Gordon in particular is adept at closing them off. Eddie obviously spotted Raya’s vulnerability- that’s why he sent on Miggy late in the first leg with a brief to do exactly that
@@Veaseify that's why Burn was on Martinelli because the smart thing normally is to go long to Martinelli he's the taller winger and the better in the air of Arsenal's two but you could ping the ball at him all game and he wouldn't have won one in the air against Burn. But Arsenal should have still done that and then focused on second balls but that's not their game.
@@DeathByKappawell said man. It was spot on from Howe, but they should have made the most of that mismatch between Martinelli and Burn, just one misplaced header, and the ball fall to the wrong foot, could have unlocked Martinelli onto a foot race with Burn. I guess, Howe knew they are a rigid team that like to stick with their style.
He did the right thing. He expected Rice to reach it first and pass it to now unmarked Saliba, who would then have an open lane to drive into and break apart the defensive man marking structure Newcastle had. Sure he failed to realise the danger Rice was in, but Rice also failed to anticipate Raya's danger growing and give him a shorter option first. I suspect it was probably a practised move from Newcastle to be honest, it was so brilliantly in sync.
@ Arteta and/or the coaching staff should have known about this and warned him, if he didn’t already know himself. We do it almost every game - including in the first leg !
Subscribed 😊
The best analysis I have heard! By far ❤
Hmmm not so sure there. Alice, (ECILA Football) and Adam Clery,(fourfourtwo) are probably more accurate.
I think rice was trying to give saliba the ball to break the press...
I Think it would have been a penalty if williams didn't score
You've got it slightly wrong. It wasn't 3-4-3 it was 5-4-1. The key difference is the fullbacks/ wingback did not push on and instead focussed on negating Arsenal's wide men and ensured we always had at least 4 at the back. This also led to a scenario you alluded to at the end where Newcastle were literally 1v1 all over the park meaning it was Gordon + Isak vs Saliba + Gabriel. It was only possible because the 5-4-1 allowed Schar to get free and man-mark Rice. A 3-4-3 would have meant Gordon and Murphy were on the fullbacks but as you showed, that was not the case. Bournemouth did the exact same job on us albeit through a slightly different formation but essentially they isolated the CBs so it was 1v1 and Kluivert and Ouattara got the better of our CB pair.
Gordon and Murphy were the wide forwards. Trippier and Hall were the wingbacks. Both played defensive and pushed forward. You know, like wing backs do.
@@gbhgvhgbh They did that at times, but it was a back 5. Usually they play back 4 with the left back & right back pushing up when required.
Hmmm, I was at the match, and I would say that both are kind of true. When Arsenal had the ball near our box, we were usually sitting in a 5-4-1. Further up the field, it was often closer to a 3-4-3. It shifted depending on our position on the field and who had possession.
Also he made a point about Arsenals attacking idea with Martinelli vs Burn. Shown in the graphics from 2nd half, but Martinelli got injured in the 1st half.
regrading the first , you touched on the two best touches from isaac but Gordon's angle to get the ball into Isak's run was amazing and Murphy's goal was not at all an easy one either Also Trippier was imense. i was not expecting that
Where we suffer this season is when teams push their front four onto our back four Mano e Mano and miss out our m/f. Makes sense when you look at our standard midfield of Bruno, Joelinton and the absolute fucking legend that is Sandro Tonali. Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham all did it. Having seen this plus having used a variation to utterly murder Citeh at the weekend Arteta must have been pretty confident that he could beat us. Confident right up until he saw the team sheet. Then he must have thought “eh?” Then when it kicked off he’ll have thought “oh!’ MA will have learnt the old military maxim of ‘the first casualty in any battle is your plan!’ The other common denominator in Newcastle’s defeats this season has been simply that we’ve played badly for whatever reason. Not so yesterday.
Spot on here mate, tactically Eddie Howe was just one step ahead in this one and once the game got into a rhythm and Newcastle were able to impose the tempo they wanted, Arsenal just couldn’t do anything. To your point as well, there really wasn’t any change from Arteta, no solution and that’s one of the most impressive things about this I think, there wasn’t any counter from Arsenal. The players deserve huge credit for applying the game plan. But Eddie Howe’s tactics here were absolutely fantastic, great game and a deserved win for Newcastle👍 Thanks for watching mate!
Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed the video then please hit that LIKE button and SUBSCRIBE! Thank you for your amazing support!❤
In many ways, this system is similar to how I think Amorim might like Utd to play. Obviously there are some key differences (although many of these could be explained by adapting the opposition too) - but there are parallels with defensive and positional structure, tempo, pressing principles and, crucially, player roles. Some of the transfer links (for both players and managers) over the last few years lend it all a healthy dose of irony too!
Yeah, I think you’re right, there are definitely some similarities, especially with the aggression and the tempo. This performance was so good from Newcastle, really impressive. Thanks for watching mate!
This formation was introduced into training on Monday. How long has that amorim been playing it for?
Love the breakdown, great content mate. Keep up the good work 👍
Glad you enjoyed mate!👍 Thank you for the kind words and for watching!❤
Arteta out thought and Arsenal, put fought.
Surely people cannot be Arteta out? This was more about Newcastle being fantastic, the changes from them, the aggression, tempo, tactics. This was a brilliant example of how to prepare for a side and the brilliant execution of a plan by the players. Brilliant from Newcastle who are now one game away from a trophy. Thanks for watching mate!
@@ZekkoFootball I think it was all about getting 1 goal for Arsenal once Newcastle scored it’s different game mentality if Odegaard scored it would have been nervous game for Newcastle United but goal gave them energy and the game got away from arsenal
